Soleus
Soleus How-To: The soleus is deep in the shank and is attached to the gastrocnemius. Separate the soleus from the gastrocnemius by looking inside for a division of the two muscles. Once detached from the gastrocnemius, you can use the blunt probe to lift up and see the soleus.

How-To: This muscle lies on the anterior end of the tibia. It is the largest and most prominent of the anterior shank muscles and should be relatively easy to identify. It is thin at the ends but thickens towards the middle like a bulb.
